Awesome Valentine’s day

Tonight was the second meeting of a class Esther and I are taking together this semester called Marriage and Family Counseling, and since it was also Valentine’s Day, our professor started off the class by asking all of the couples present to stand up. He had each couple put their name in a hat, and then held up an envelope and announced that the couple whose name he pulled out of the hat was required to skip class and use the money in the envelope to go on a date. Right before he pulled a name out, I thought, “he’s going to pull our name out” – and then, lo and behold, he did! What a fun thing to have happen on our first Valentine’s day together as a married couple!

For our date we went to see a movie called The Bucket List. I had no expectations going into the movie, but I would have to say that it is one of the best movies I have seen in a long, long time. The actors they chose for it are perfectly suited for their characters, and its funny, clean, believable, very well-written, touching, and profound. I haven’t cried so hard during a movie since Rocky III! Okay, that’s a joke – but I do recommend it!

All in all, it was one of the funnest nights I can remember having in a long time. There is something so joyful in just taking a night off to have fun once in a while. And the best part about it is that I got to spend it with beautiful bride, Esther!  God is good!

  1. That’s so awesome Gavin! What a great idea your prof had. You’ve got a great Valentine!! We love you guys!

  2. What a great first married Valentine’s day! I agree that to have a night when you can just go have fun and be released from all you have to do is so restorative, esp. with the girl of your dreams.
