Food for Thought

“If the preaching of our ministers and the practice of our parishioners do not have the same effect on people that Jesus had, then we must not be declaring the same message that Jesus did. If our churches aren’t appealing to younger brothers, they must be more full of elder brothers than we’d like to think.”

-Tim Keller, Prodigal God: Recovering the Heart of the Christian Faith (Dutton, 2008), 15-16.

And, most churches are far more full of our “elder brothers/sisters” (of which I guess I am one) than we would like to think. The healthiest thing anyone can do is to embrace change; welcome its challenges, and celebrate its joy.

The FL pastor should perhaps check what he’s teaching. In my opinion, the message he sends, though it is certainly a lot of things, is far from being Christ-like.

    Thank you for sharing this.
